Review: Thor: The Dark World

Movie: Thor: The Dark World (2013)
Genre: Action

Review: Can you believe it has been more than a month since the last review? I’m going to keep this one short but I have to confess, Tom Hiddleston aka Loki is my new man-crush.

If you’ve watched the first installation of Thor, then this will taste even better. I’ve heard differing opinions that they preferred the first Thor though. There are a couple of one-liner funny scenes that really cracked me up, which I really do appreciate J

Tips: As we have all learned about Marvel pictures, please stay for the end credit. There are TWO end credits for this movie, so make sure you sit through the credit rolls. (I missed the second one ugh)

Verdict: 4 out of 5 stars

Flash Fridays - All of the 2012s

Gosh, time is zooming past while wrinkles continue to build up on my skin...I cannot believe it's been close to half a year not writing anything...

So here's a quick one! BACKLOGGED!

The names of Santa’s eight original reindeers are Dasher and Dancer, Prancer and Vixen, Comet and Cupid, and Donner and Blitzen. Rudolph didn’t join the list until the Christmas song “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” became popular!

Flash Fridays - Aug 2012

This is what I have in store for August:

I was busy during the last week of August due to the annual Happy Hour party that i had to organize for the whole Singapore office, hence my US counterpart sent out the newsletter that day. Her fact of the week was "The ridges on the sides of coins are called reeding or milling". (Her facts will never make it in my list :P)

The (B)Vow

Everytime i check on my humble blog, I'm ashamed of myself.

Why?

  • I don't blog enough to keep my readers around
  • When I do blog, it's either a negative post or useless fact of myself
  • Because I don't blog as much, I don't remember if i have blogged about something that I wanted to blog about
(Rachel hung her head in shame)

So it came to me, that i should write the T&C for myself, representing my blog, to myself. I shall call this, "The Bvow".

I, Rachel, vow to blog only of the positives, and to blog at least once a month, about myself and my surroundings, so that i can keep all the happy memories written down, and spread the goodness to my readers.

I shall share my life with all of you, sincerely and with an open mind, as I know, anyone may judge me, but my blog (and its readers) will stand by my side, till the day blogging is deemed uncool and Internet shuts down blogger.com.

Yours truly,
Rachel :)

The Comeback

I can't imagine how I managed to lay off writing bulls and cocks on the wall of this room for over 4 months.

But lo and behold! I did it! I actually fixed up my template and started to write. So dear friends, to my defence, this is my excuse this time: I did not like my previous black and white template and therefore I refuse to write on it. There.

But, it still amazed me how I get email reports on the visitor stats of my blog, and at least one hopeful (hope-fool?) will pop over to check if I actually still have the ability to type something, anything. Thank you roomie :) *virtual fist-bump*

So there's lot to update yeah? Even Blogger (where this blog is hosted) has an overhaul of their site. I used to dig about for Blogger templates and spend hours tweaking every little details, like how my fonts should be, where the gadgets would sit, and to be honest, I'm such a pain in the ass. I am a self-proclaimed minimalist, so I like clean, white spaces, with very clean black border and nothing too fancy or girlish. But at the same time, my crazy and adventurous side of me screams for COLOUR! So in my head the conversation goes something like this..

LEFT BRAIN: Yeap, that's right, settle for no nonsense white template here..Make sure the lines are straight and keep the header simple.
RIGHT BRAIN: Oh come on! Stop being boring! Splash me some colour here, here and here. And stop being so rigid about the font type! We need to stop living in the 50's!

Now that Blogger introduced some fancy self-customization, I actually changed all the detailing in the current template! So here we have, the classy typewriter fonts balanced up with the crazy background and the orange themed titles. Leave me a comment and tell me if the template is a YAY or NAY? :)

Site under construction

Hey guys,

Sorry to leave you hanging with an unfinished site. I have not been working on this template (obviously) and there's too much going on with work and life right now for me to be fixing html.

Anyways, Selamat Hari Raya to all who's celebrating. Damn, i really miss open houses! And to my dear country no matter how chaotic it is, you know your citizen loves you. Happy 54th Independence Day, Malaysia :)

May 8, 2010

Definitely, maybe.

Hi guys,

It's a rainy Saturday afternoon and I've just spent my morning healthily by waking up early for breakfast and a game of badminton. Nothin much to update except that come Monday, shift work starts! With that I mean, honeymoon's over. Real work now. Grueling ey!

This is Maggie, the US team lead from States. She came over to train our team and she's just wonderful. By now she's prolly back in California but yesterday was her last day with the team. Thus, we bought her lunch at Sakae Sushi (yes, I know, so boring right? but boohoo Singapore got nothin much to offer anyway so yeah) and made her a card with a photograph of us in it. So friggin cheesy, but not that I mind (cos im the one who suggested it anyway :P)

If you haven't notice already, that's how casual we dress up for work. (I was actually wearing my clubbing tops to work cos I figured it's Friday anyway and I don't care haha). For a first job, I think I'm spoilt. Heh.

Apart from work, everything's pretty much same old same old.

I want to say this, but I don't know if I can. Guys, I think I am smitten. I think.

smit·ten

  [smit-n]
–adjective
1.
struck, as with a hard blow.
2.
grievously or disastrously stricken or afflicted.
3.
very much in love.

Take a guess. :P

Lalala...

Oi, wake up. Two more days left before I have to surrender to work and be handcuffed. :( Went for briefing today (yeap on a freaking Saturday and the fact that I went out partying till 4am doesn't help) to have a taste of what to expect on Monday. I is having nervous breakdown.

Never liked first days cos I'll usually end up doing stupid stuff. Also, I am the only fresh graduate without any IT background. So I was told that I'm going to be seated beside Mr Senior IT Lead. I is so screwed.

However, I am very excited to go on board with the team. Just hope I could turn myself into a sponge and just absorb everything quickly! Okay raining anjing kucing liao. Cheerio! :D

Live and Inspire Series : Season II kicks off!

Tomorrow marks the launching of the second season of the Starbucks Live and Inspire series yo! I'm actually really excited for it as Ramli Ibrahim of Sutra Dance Theater will be the guest speaker and he'll be the first to get the balls rolling for new season.

"This pure, intense fire in the most sacred part of myself. It is the point of time when I celebrate life with my total being." -Ramli Ibrahim, 1989

The renowned dancer and choreographer shows that he does not need to conform as long as one has the passion and love for what he does. Being a Muslim who pioneers in both traditional Indian dances and Malay dances, I believe that he is the perfect example to prove that even when politics try to break us, races try to differentiate us, religions try to separate us, art however, unites all of us as one. For that, I salute Ramli Ibrahim and I sooo wish I could be there in person to listen to what he has to share.

If you have never seen or heard about the Live and Inspire series, watch this little clip to see what you've missed!

Venue : Starbucks Level Two, Bangsar Village II.
Date : April 15, 2010
Time : 8 pm - 9 pm

Beautiful morning innit?

I'm grateful that I woke up early today, and I get to talk to my sister before she head out to work.
I'm grateful that I had to walk a long stretch to get to the bus stop, as I am given the chance to shed some weight off.
I'm grateful that I had to wait for the bus, as I get to enjoy the beautiful view of the park in the morning, with the lalangs waving back at me.
I'm grateful that I made a blunder, for now I'm a day too early to collect my pass.
I'm grateful that the journey home in the bus felt so long, as I get to bask in the sunshine.
I'm grateful that I forgot my camera today, as I know I'll be able to capture the beautiful view I have tomorrow, and for now, the picture shall stay put in my head.
I'm grateful that I call mum just to say hi, as I miss her terribly and it's been a taboo in my family to say it out loud.
I'm grateful that the 7.7 magnitude earthquake that hit Sumatra this morning and no casualty has been reported.

City Escape

Thought I ought to write down my experience with the *Scapes team today before I forget :P

Few days back I volunteered to be part of the crew for the finale programme for Media Fiesta, a creative festival in Singapore. I'm all for arts, creative and culture, and since I have so much extra time to spare, I thought why not? Hence, I was part of the crew for Sound@Scapes!

Somehow in between I manage to get my ex-roomie, Chin Chin in as well, but I ended up being assigned (actually, again, I volunteered to take up that role before anyone does, plainly because, I prefer to sit and work heh) as a receptionist while Chin Chin was assigned to be usher.

On Friday we both went for briefing, and once I stepped in the building, my intial thought was, "Crap." You see, everyone is freaking young! They are still in school, some in poly, but still!! @#$%^! It was pretty obvious we were the older pair, not that I mind being older, but happens that the Floor Manager, the one that called us up to be volunteers is also younger! fml really.

Overall I think the whole management is crappy, very disorganized, as everything is so messed up and last minute. The event went really well though. The response from the crowd was overwhelming, the exhibitions were spanking awesome, gigs that went on in The Warehouse were really good! However I think the crowd is very, urm, static. Passive like max. No one even scream except me. -_- No feel man watch bands rock on stage and stand still. (I on the other hand was trying to imagine myself in Barsonic lah. Deprived man, deprived!)

Got $20 at the end of the night, pretty crappy pay right? Okay la at least they didn't ill-treat us, and I was volunteering and wasn't there for the money. Got to scream my lungs out a little bit and get to keep my tee shirt lor. And not forgetting the crappy goodie bag. However my best reward is that I get to know three fantastic girls! One of them is sixteen and omg I love her to bits cos she is abit cuckoo in her head. HAHA Merideff I'm so glad I met you! Oh oh! And she is the first person I met (in my generation) that has NO facebook! How cool is that? She is a resistant! Hahaha!

Girls from left; Sophia, a pretty fatten up Rachy, Merideff :)

Ok lazy to blog already, need to do some work for Tim before he kills me. Ciao!

Connecting the dots

Today couldn't have been better. Like the path is paved-ready for my fragile little feet to step on. Even birds would sing-a-long to my thoughts kind of day.

Got my medical check-up done for my work permit application at SATA early morning. I cannot recall the last time I got poked and blood drawn for lab test. I realized I can watch the nurse do it to other people but I can't watch when the nurse was looking for my veins to poke about. Poor arms, they bruised right after.

Sneaked out in between X Rays and doctors consultation to have lunch with my aunt at this small cafe called Happy Daze. Totally forgot to take picture of the place but it is a perfect location for a quiet evening read, because there were barely any customer apart from us and another table. Food was so-so. Nothing worthy to mention. To my surprise I actually enjoyed my aunt's company cos I used to dislike her. Not to say dislike, but this aunt used to be very critical. She always have something to say bout everything. My hair, the way I dress, the way I walk and anyone who tries to comment or restrict my freedom totally puts me off. But maybe I grew out of that rebellious phase. Or maybe we both grew up, to be more appreciative of family bonds.

One day if I lose everything, I know family is the only place I can seek refuge. (hopefully that day won't come la okay? lol)

Oh! Oh! Another reason why I'm so happy and contented today would be caused of my new flats! So pretty! On 20% discount somemore! I'm so sick of wearing heels and getting blisters and corns. I'm convinced that my feet are going to run away with someone else if I keep torturing them like that. Hence, investment! :)

Yippee! Nice anottt!

I soooo feel like drinking right now, but no one is free to go drinking lor :S Gone are those alcoholic days. But pieces of puzzle are falling into place already. I'm going to dive into the harsh reality real soon! Kancheongness gila babi mannnn.

Escapism

We used to have only mr glacius. Now we witness the birth of ms glacius talking bout shredding of guitars all the way from Hobart, Tasmania. I kinda made a promise I'll sponsor him the money to custom make a guitar once I've made my few millions.
