The everyday life of the accidental geek.

Ah finally! I've been wanting to write (literally itching to write!) every single night, but if you haven't already heard (or read :P i love doing in the bracket talks), I am no longer unemployed. In other words, I am actually earning in SGD now. Bad news is, I am heavily in debt. I owe my sis rental and god knows what other miscellaneous stuff she paid for me. I need to start giving mom some moolah. I need to pay off my study loan! Etc etc. :/

Ok I shall start doing all that after I get my second pay check :P

Now, about work! Work has been great! Mainly because work hasn't really started yet. There are trainings to attend and slides to be studied every single day. Part of me felt like I'm in multimedia class every single day. And I do question myself from time to time, why did I get into the IT line when I know nuts about it? So I am working twice as hard to pick up all the IT jingles that are being thrown at me everyday. Honestly, I feel like the baby of the group, but my colleagues have been really, really helpful! I am truly grateful to be in a great team. So far, I love my work! I really do. :)

The culture in my company is very different from the usual I would say. We have people playing Guitar Hero and Wii in the Gaming Room during breaks. People from the Marketing team (which sadly sit just right behind me) would blast really loud music in the office. My department director from Hong Kong would just walk up to me and crack jokes in Cantonese (well mainly because most Singaporeans do not understand Cantonese and he was telling me racist jokes about angmoh wtf haha). I get to wear whatever I want to work. And of course, everyone gets the joy of going to the soda vending machine just to press that big button and listen at the sound of the can drop (when you don't have to pay for it, the cool factor just shots up higher haha).

Don't hate me, just yet.

I have a pretty huge cubicle with a white board in front of me to scribble on, with my personal cabinet to go along. I already have my Hp laptop, but I will also be getting my own Mac. And a huge ass external screen to go with it. And a docking station. And...i got a cute ang moh IT guy sitting right in front of me :P (ok fineee he is married). So now you guys know these are the perks of being in IT line.

I have been sleeping at 10pm every night and waking up at 6am in the morning. Lifeless man. Gotta get used to it. Cos when shift work starts, that's going to be worst. :S

So who else want to join me in Singapore? We are still lacking four men :P
