zeeavi radio

Zee Avi is always in my #nowplaying list, especially when I'm in the office. I love her and I still do! When I'm home, I usually pop her CD in the player but when I'm at work, I listen to her through Myspace. I know right? That's the only time I access Myspace and I don't even have an account on there :P I love their radio feature where they play you random songs from the same artist that you specify.

Back to work now ciao!

And I'm singing..

(ukulele!) Badabadababa badabadabababa...

Let's pack our bag and lie on the easy stream, feel the water on our backs where we can carry on dreaming.

When we can finally, be where we'd like to be, darling just you and me.

Just you and me :)

So darlin' what do you say, does that sound like a plan to you? We can build our own little world where no one else can come through. We can live huts made out of grass, we can greet father time when he walks pass.

Zee Avi writes beautiful lyrics. Loves! :D

Long Vacation!

I saw abang Shahril's teeshirt and I told him I like it. He then told me about Takuya Kimura. Which leads to me Youtube-ing for lalala love song. I love this song!

I dont really remember the storyline for Long Vacation, but I do recall that it was a really good show! La la la...

I got soul, but I'm not a soldier

I was reminiscing and blasting numbers from The Killers when I came across the news that Brandon Flowers, Killers' frontman lost his mother in a cancer battle a week back. Now, it was not very long ago when The Killers abruptly canceled their gigs in Singapore, and I heard that many fans were very disappointed with them, but now that the truth is out, I feel for Brandon who has to deal with such tragic news at such times.

My deepest condolence goes to Brandon Flowers and I hope that he will be able to take as much time off as he can and when he is ready for the world again, he shall be able to stand up and produce good music . Here's one song from The Killers that I grew to love.

Read more about the sad news here.

Escapism

We used to have only mr glacius. Now we witness the birth of ms glacius talking bout shredding of guitars all the way from Hobart, Tasmania. I kinda made a promise I'll sponsor him the money to custom make a guitar once I've made my few millions.
If music be the food of love, play on.

Time to Pretend

At times like this i just wish there's someone to hold on to sleep. Good night all.

In for the kill

On my most played playlist.

La Roux's simply awesome. It's a electropop duo band, but of course, the band is better known for the wind-blown redhead singer. I've heard 'In for the kill' a dozen of times in Barsonic, usually Blink would play this for the last song but this song never gets old. Like wine, songs like this gets better. :)

I'm going in for the kill,
I'm doing it for the thrill,
I'm hoping you'll understand,
And not let go of my hand.

Fly me to the moon

Malam yang emo sendirian.

Work is pilling and I can't focus. I think I'm upset at myself :( I'm looking for that one thing, I have no idea what yet, be it a song, or a company or a book (no time to do homework but got time for book? meh lei geh) that could sharpen(sharpen?really?) my focus for now.

I wish someone could order me around abit.

It's late at night, I should be sleeping but I slept too much in the afternoon, I don't want to waste my life sleeping away, you know what I mean?

Aiyo i think i just spent the last one hour downloading songs. But it was very worthwhile cos now I've got the whole album of Joanna Wang whom reminds me very much of Norah Jones and Zee Avi. I don't know how famous is Joanna but I like her style. Come to think of it, my taste in music changed distinctively heading towards either Brit rock or indie rock or jazz/blues/folk music.

Her album "Start from here"

Okay la I feel alot better already. Got sudden crave for Baileys somemore! Kei lah! Let me taste her Baileys with milk and it was so darn good! I might go get a bottle and keep heee. But for now me thinks sleep is the answer. Cheerio loves! :)

If today was your last day

Usually I despise, despise people who paste lyrics on their blog and expect me to understand whatever metaphor you're trying to bring across. I despise reading lyrics and you expect me to know which song you are referring to.

But today I'm going to do what I despise most. HAHA.

Nickelback makes me ponder, seriously. Now click on the video and read the lyrics. Then it would be your turn to ponder and tell me your answer in the comment box.

My best friend gave me the best advice
He said each day's a gift and not a given right
Leave no stone unturned, leave your fears behind
And try to take the path less traveled by
That first step you take is the longest stride

If today was your last day
And tomorrow was too late
Could you say goodbye to yesterday?
Would you live each moment like your last?
Leave old pictures in the past
Donate every dime you have?
If today was your last day

Against the grain should be a way of life
What's worth the prize is always worth the fight
Every second counts 'cause there's no second try
So live like you'll never live it twice
Don't take the free ride in your own life

If today was your last day
And tomorrow was too late
Could you say goodbye to yesterday?
Would you live each moment like your last?
Leave old pictures in the past
Donate every dime you have?
Would you call old friends you never see?
Reminisce old memories
Would you forgive your enemies?
Would you find that one you're dreamin' of?
Swear up and down to God above
That you finally fall in love
If today was your last day

If today was your last day
Would you make your mark by mending a broken heart?
You know it's never too late to shoot for the stars
Regardless of who you are
So do whatever it takes
'Cause you can't rewind a moment in this life
Let nothin' stand in your way
Cause the hands of time are never on your side

If today was your last day
And tomorrow was too late
Could you say goodbye to yesterday?

Would you live each moment like your last?
Leave old pictures in the past
Donate every dime you have?
Would you call old friends you never see?
Reminisce old memories
Would you forgive your enemies?
Would you find that one you're dreamin' of?
Swear up and down to God above
That you finally fall in love
If today was your last day

******

So what if today was your last day? What would you do?

Free to Fall

Free%20to%20Fall

Decided to just google them up today and I actually really like 'The Wait'. Jane im going to be one of your groupies now! :p

An all girl band from Klang, Free to Fall plays pop rock music and compose their own song! Well i suck at introduction so let them do the intro themselves. Heh.

Absolutely crazy lol. I'm listening to 'The Wait' over and over again and i'm not tired of it yet. Now question is, where do I get to listen to more songs?

I'm waiting.

Life is a maze, love is a riddle - Lenka

You know how sometimes you like this particular song and you don't know who's the singer, but you really want to find out what's the song name? And yet you don't know the lyrics?

I was experiencing that for the past one hour.

For the past one hour, I had this urgency to look for that particular song. It's a common song! By a female singer! She sings a happy tune. Such limited info, so fail dot com.

I tried Youtube. No idea what to type. Typed in 'Happy Tunes 2009'. Came out list of crap.

Tried Googling. Typed 'Female singer, happy tunes'. Nope. Maybe ' Female Russian Singer, happy songs' (I knew she's not American but I thought she's so similar to Mika who's from Russia. Heh, She's Australian btw). Oh I gave up.

Tried to check out the charts in hitz.fm. :( Nothing there either.

When I thought I'd never be able to find out, I im-ed Willie like a crazy bitch, and the conversation goes :

R a c h e l y says:
willie
this is bugging me
i think only u can help me!!

~E | L L | w~ says:
yes
wats up

R a c h e l y says:
theres this singer
its a female singer
i cant hum u the tune
but she sings happy tunes
lol

~E | L L | w~ says:
lol
how am i gonna help
lenka?

Tell me!! Who in the world can do that? Willie you just made my night lah. And I cannot hold the joy in me, so I had to blog bout it.

Willie Ong, I salute you as the music master of UTAR Broadcasting '09 Batch! *salutes* :)

Now here's the happy tune from Lenka :)

I want nobody nobody

The last shoot I had was a Telekom Malaysia shoot and we had a Thai director, a Thai producer and a Thai D.O.P.

And since then, I've learnt so many new facts bout Thai people.

1. Thai men are amazing cooks.
2. If you watch them cook, you'll be amazed at the amount of spices they put in one single dish.
3. Thai people are fun loving people and hell they love to drink and party.
4. Beer is a must. every. single. day. (If there's no beer just give them whisky)
5. Wondergirls are their god and 'Nobody' is their national anthem.

And thanks to them, the song is stuck in my head. :)

Now sing-a-long and do the the girly dance!

A twist in my story

Omg, I just found out something new today.

Do you know that Secondhand Serenade is a solo project? In other words, Secondhand Serenade is not a band, but merely one guy singing? (please, please tell me I'm not the last person on earth to discover this)

This is him

I love his songs because they are goddamn emo.

Going by the name John Vesely, Secondhand Serenade is just a pseudonym which carry a much deeper meaning behind it. Everything song he sang was to serenade his wife, thus us, the audience around the world are merely listening to his secondhand songs. Pretty sweet eh? :)

So i guess everyone got a twist in their stories. When I'm feeling emo, maybe I'll tell you mine.

Delirium

Yes I'm blogging at work again :)

And yes I'm in a happy chirpy mood heehee.

I need some happy songs to go with my day.

Last weekend, I was at UOX Play Electric and goddamned I wished I could tell you how good was Twilight Action Girl! (p.s. Twilight Action Girl is a group of DJ nothing in relation to Twilight the movie hardcore fans please don't be confused heh) I don't know how they do it but pair TAG with Lapsap, I was pretty much be sucked into their indie electro world and all hell break loose on my pretty sore feet.

Did not take a single photo that night, hence no picture post again! Yay!

Oh, on the other note, I have to apologize for The Absolute Room is not your regular bimbo blog with a lot of pink and pictures.

Reasons that I can come up with to counter back those readers who prefer to read bimbo blogs:

1) I am not a pink fan. Pink just does.not.cut.it.
2) As much as you love pictures, I love to write. I write in my blog. You want pictures? Click X
3) I am not in the mainstream. And I don't intend to be. There are XX and Ringo for the pink obsessed readers (don't get me wrong. I love them both! So funny, sarcastic and full of pun). So move along now people.

Ahhh. Feels so good to get it out of my system. No offence to pink lovers though. I know it's like a must for girls to like pink. But seriously, I don't.

Off to blast happy jumpy tunes in my office now.    :)

Ready to roll with me?

My first post of the year. This is just wow. When I first started blogging, I doubted I would be able to go through the first month. But now The absolute room has officially entered Year 2009! :)

Instead of making a list of resolutions, I've instead volunteered myself to be part of a meme! I think it would be interesting to list out things that I have come to love throughout the year. I got the letter R from Hope so let's lay out the ground rules.

The rules:

You leave a comment on this post, and I’ll assign you a letter. You write about ten things you love that begin with your assigned letter, and post it at your place. When people comment on your list, you give them a letter, and the chain continues on and on.

1. Reunions. I've been to one too many last year. And I never get tired of them. Regardless it's meeting up with old friends or returning to the company of my family members, there's a part in me who appreciate these relationships much.

2. Reading. When I was younger, the only source I had was my sister's pathetic stash of novels. Sometimes Emmy lend me hers. I lived in a town where there's no MPH or Borders. But that didn't stop me from enjoying the quiet time of reading. I read to find composure. I think Jodi Picoult's a brilliant writer. But recently I've taken a liking to read blog entries. And that's exactly how I found Hope dies last.

3. Reza Salleh. I've heard so much about him but that's until I've seen him performed live in front of me then I was completely won over. He reminds me very much of Jason Mraz. You know, that honest kind of music that could get him laid anytime. Heh.

4. R.S.V.P. Just because it's French. And us saying it without knowing what exactly it stands for. Nowadays just by rsvp-ing allows you free entry to events and all. And the convenience of Facebook to allow us to rsvp asap. (oh how I love abbreviation!) And for those who don't know, R.S.V.P. stands for Répondez s'il vous plaît that translates to 'Please respond'.

5. On being random. Even theabsoluteroom.blogspot.com was created randomly. Don't you just love the feeling of being able to do some spontaneous and different and have a great time at it? You don't need me to give examples on how to be random do you?

6. Replying emails. As well as getting them. I am addicted to my mailbox, i admit I am. The trills I get when I saw there's '1 unread email' are priceless.

7. Rolling my R's. Say it with me now. Rrrrachel is rrrrravishing, rrrright?

8. Renovated Zouk. Better rooms, better music. Zouk KL now has Barsonic for indie nights. Nothin beats Lapsap and their long island tea. And I am absolutely loving my Zouk priviledges!

9. Roti Canai. Even though the best Roti Canai could only be found in my hometown, but this piece of grilled dough makes the best supper you can find during that midnight hunger pangs.

10. Robert Pattinson. That pair of sleepy eyes makes me wonder how he look like when he is sleeping. Robert Pattinson, I fell for you when you were Edward Cullen. Tell me, are you the same person off-screen? I wonder.

-------------

There are so many other things that I love just they do not begin with the letter R. R is freaking hard, Hope. I don't know how you do it. lol.

So people, leave a comment if you want to do a meme and I'll assign you with a letter! Get your creative juice flowing for the new year :)

Edward Cullen, distract me please

I just got back from watching Twilight. Again. Heh. I guess I just can't get enough of Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson!!)

Who could resist SUCH temptation?

I don't know why but the whole plot and storyline really touches my heart. Like i have a strong chemistry towards the movie. I know this sounds so lame wtf but it's true i swear!

I was actually gushing when I know Edward is going to walk in through the cafeteria door (in the movie of course) and when he finally did, I grinned so wide from ear to ear until Superman felt a little bit inferior he had to squeeze my palm to pull me back to reality. Heh.

Oh and with the power of technology that had bestowed upon me, now i have all 13 songs OST of Twilight (yay!) and I've downloaded all 4 books. And Twilight is just the beginning. Ooohh how exciting!!

The Sagas :)

I've heard so many people dissing Twilight. But you got to understand. This is not the typical vampire-bites-you-then-you-turn-into-another-vampire movie. It's a love story. So do not expect so much actions. Instead listen to their words. It is really beautiful if you listen attentively.

It's been awhile I haven't feel like this. Nothin ever since One Tree Hill. Omg i feel like a school girl in uniform right now. Such fanatic tone of a post eh?

But sometimes it does feels good being in love once again :)

You're like a rocket in my mind

Another weekend gone past just like that. And to be able to sleep through my entire Sunday is such a blessing :)

So I managed to find my way to the U.O.X Play yesterday. I went alone (come to think of it, i always go alone to any art fest), and walked with my instinct and wuahlah!, there it was! The purple carnival was hard to miss.

More about U.O.X later. Now that I've seen so many homegrown musicians perform live in front of me, I'm impressed. Seriously, if we pay more attention to our local music, there are a fair chance for them to go international.

Say, Yuna. I've seen the raving reviews. I saw her pictures and news about her EP's out in the market. But i never bothered to check her out. Until she performed live with her band in U.O.X Play, and now my playlist is fulled of Yuna's honest music.

Yuna's EP cover

Check out one of her song, Rocket here and i gurantee you that will be the song that kept playing in your head :)

On the other note, Superman is down with fever and flu for almost one week already. Today we went to the doctor's for the second time. Just hope he'll be alright soon. He is the Superman, isn't he? :) Ahhh, wonderful life.

Shit, i just remembered i have loads of assignments to finish up.

Come out and play

What you'll get when you mix one group of talented musicians and one massive flea market with fabulous clothes and vintage?

One BIG crazy, artsy fartsy party filled with shopaholics!

From the brilliant people who brought you the famed Urbanscapes!, here comes U.O.X Play : Block Party!

not their official poster but oh well :)

I just found out U.O.X stands for University of X. (non related to X-Men there, sorry X-Men fanatics lol) But I think it's a pretty cool idea to gather people around to party!

Basically what U.O.X Play : Block Party has in store for you is a series of mind-blowing events starting from November and it's happening all the way till January. But what's coming up is the event on this weekend at Cap Square, KL!

Map to Cap Square for clueless people only

I'm going just because Koko Kaina is going to perform! Nooooo, please don't tell me you've never heard of Koko Kaina! She is one petite singer with a voice that will melt your heart. Seriously. I've seen her perform once and the crowd was wild! She's our own Youtube singer that made it big in LA. Check out one of my fav songs by Koko Kaina, Darling it ain't easy.

For others that have zero interest in music and homegrown acts (ada lagi ker orang cam tu? do tell!), there would be a showcase of live graffiti arts and Marketplace by Tongue in Chic & Threadszoo. Also, if you have any old clothes that's been in your closet for ages, never been worn, sometimes you assure yourself someday you get to wear them with other pieces but the day just never came, pieces that are too precious just to throw them away(girls mentality, yes i have the same syndrome) hence the exploding wardrobe. Here's a chance for a spring clean for your closet : Donate them to U.O.X Play and at the same time buy pre-loved items from Rm5!

Remember to bring enough cash shopaholics!

Date: 15th November, Saturday
Time: 1pm onwards
Venue: UOX Play at Cap Square

RSPV at their FB Group. More info at KLue and TiC. See you there peeps! :)
*p/s : all photos shamelessly grabbed from U.O.X Play Facebook Group*
