Reds against Devils

Tonight is the night! Manchester United vs Liverpool match is going to be wild.

I'm so excited to display my #25 at Penny Black tonight, and apparently 60 plus Liverpool supporters are going to show up there. Let's see if i can snap some pic of the scene later.

xo

Okay, so we lost 2-1 :(

But last night B and I experienced the best feeling in the our football life! We watched and cheered along with all the Liverpool supporters in the pub and it felt so empowering! I tried to snap a photo but it was too dark and that photo does not do justice. However, I found a Youtube clip of East of Anfield (that's the name of the Liverpool fan club in Singapore) singing 'You'll never walk alone'. They kept singing to a point i felt like they were chanting :P For those who are interested, here's the clip:

Live and Inspire Series : Season II kicks off!

Tomorrow marks the launching of the second season of the Starbucks Live and Inspire series yo! I'm actually really excited for it as Ramli Ibrahim of Sutra Dance Theater will be the guest speaker and he'll be the first to get the balls rolling for new season.

"This pure, intense fire in the most sacred part of myself. It is the point of time when I celebrate life with my total being." -Ramli Ibrahim, 1989

The renowned dancer and choreographer shows that he does not need to conform as long as one has the passion and love for what he does. Being a Muslim who pioneers in both traditional Indian dances and Malay dances, I believe that he is the perfect example to prove that even when politics try to break us, races try to differentiate us, religions try to separate us, art however, unites all of us as one. For that, I salute Ramli Ibrahim and I sooo wish I could be there in person to listen to what he has to share.

If you have never seen or heard about the Live and Inspire series, watch this little clip to see what you've missed!

Venue : Starbucks Level Two, Bangsar Village II.
Date : April 15, 2010

City Escape

Thought I ought to write down my experience with the *Scapes team today before I forget :P

Few days back I volunteered to be part of the crew for the finale programme for Media Fiesta, a creative festival in Singapore. I'm all for arts, creative and culture, and since I have so much extra time to spare, I thought why not? Hence, I was part of the crew for Sound@Scapes!

Somehow in between I manage to get my ex-roomie, Chin Chin in as well, but I ended up being assigned (actually, again, I volunteered to take up that role before anyone does, plainly because, I prefer to sit and work heh) as a receptionist while Chin Chin was assigned to be usher.

On Friday we both went for briefing, and once I stepped in the building, my intial thought was, "Crap." You see, everyone is freaking young! They are still in school, some in poly, but still!! @#$%^! It was pretty obvious we were the older pair, not that I mind being older, but happens that the Floor Manager, the one that called us up to be volunteers is also younger! fml really.

Overall I think the whole management is crappy, very disorganized, as everything is so messed up and last minute. The event went really well though. The response from the crowd was overwhelming, the exhibitions were spanking awesome, gigs that went on in The Warehouse were really good! However I think the crowd is very, urm, static. Passive like max. No one even scream except me. -_- No feel man watch bands rock on stage and stand still. (I on the other hand was trying to imagine myself in Barsonic lah. Deprived man, deprived!)

Got $20 at the end of the night, pretty crappy pay right? Okay la at least they didn't ill-treat us, and I was volunteering and wasn't there for the money. Got to scream my lungs out a little bit and get to keep my tee shirt lor. And not forgetting the crappy goodie bag. However my best reward is that I get to know three fantastic girls! One of them is sixteen and omg I love her to bits cos she is abit cuckoo in her head. HAHA Merideff I'm so glad I met you! Oh oh! And she is the first person I met (in my generation) that has NO facebook! How cool is that? She is a resistant! Hahaha!

Girls from left; Sophia, a pretty fatten up Rachy, Merideff :)

Ok lazy to blog already, need to do some work for Tim before he kills me. Ciao!

Live and Inspire Series : Emotional Freedom Technique

To some they think it's miracle, to others they are skeptical about it. However, Emotional Freedom Technique(EFT) is neither of the two, it is merely the combination of sciences from the East and the West.

The story :
If one watch enough Hong Kong kung-fu flicks, one would know of the existence of meridian points in the human body. Meridians are a network of energy that's interconnected in the human body, very much like wiring in the circuit board.

The ancient Chinese found out that energy flows within the body and certain meridian points control certain organs or bodily function. Chinese call it chi, Indians call it chakra, and there are many other definition for this. Acupuncture therapy were built based on just that. The difference between EFT and acupuncture is that EFT works as a healing aid that does not use needles and it involves psychotheraphy as well. What we do not know of is that disturbance in the flow of the energy in our body sometimes might be transformed into negative emotions and these unresolved emotional issues would ultimately affect our health.

Everyday we hear people around us, loved ones, friends or colleagues complaining about reoccurring health problems such as headache, stress and depression or even phobias that cannot be dealt with medication. EFT provides an alternative way of healing when everything else does not seems to work. This Thursday, Issac Lim will demonstrate the wonders of EFT by teaches us how to control the emotions that has accumulated within the years and free ourselves from the negative emotions by tapping on the meridian points.

Issac Lim is an administrator of Gracevilla Retirement Centre for the past 18 years and his role as a complementary therapist is registered with the Malaysian Ministry of Healty-TCM. He is also a member of Malaysian Society for Complementary Medicine (MSCM) and Malaysian Psychotheraphy Association. Most importantly, he is certified under the American Board of NLP practitioners and he is certified as EFT-ADV (Advance) by Master Patricia Carrington (US) and is a Level 3 under EFT Master Peter Graham in Australia.

To understand more about EFT, here's a video that sums it all.

Still skeptical? Head over to the Starbucks Bangsar Village 2 this Thurday to experience EFT yourself. Free Starbucks coffee for the first 30!

Year Three.

They say the third time's a charm. I think I would fly back just to see this happen. The last time I was there I spent around RM200 in 5 hours on bazaars and spray-on tatts. But I thoroughly enjoyed myself that day.

Here's a short promo video that should explain what I'm talking about.

Cool song by the way. Kudos KLue, cos I know it's going to be awesome. :)

Live and Inspire Series : For she practically married her passion, Yoga.

"Yoga teaches us to cure what need not be endured and endure what cannot be cured."  -BKS Iyengar

Ninie Ahmad's favourite quote. Some may know her as the famed yoga instructor who got appointed to be the official yoga ambassador for Adidas Malaysia, others may know her as the witty blogger who writes about her life and about (in a way Carrie Bradshaw would in Sex and the City, if you get what I mean) when she is not on her yoga mat doing headstands.

Personally, I have only met Ninie Ahmad twice, once in Delicious Bangsar, another in a fashion magazine launch, and I could not help but to admire how the small, petite Ninie Ahmad went against all odds to beat the ban of yoga among Muslims in Malaysia and set up BeYoga, her very own yoga sanctuary for the benefits of all yoga practitioners in KL & PJ.

One may find it hard to believe that she was not at all flexible 10 years back. Being active as as an school athlete and hockey player back then, Ninie was forced to quit her games when she developed chronic asthma attacks that affected her respiratory system. Not willing to give up her lifestyle, she resolves to yoga as the answer to balance her strength and flexibility, and the rest, as we know it, is history. Now at 27 years old, she carries a pretty impressive list of achievements under her belt. She has been (all of you now, take a deep breath); practising yoga for 10 years and has been teaching yoga professionally for 8 years; published two yoga magazine, one of them "Hati Yoga" being the first Yoga magazine in Malaysia; being appointed as Yoga Ambassador for Adidas Malaysia; started her own yoga empire with BeYoga; and appeared numerously on television, talks and magazine spreads (yoga-ta check out her 8 pages spread on TATLER Malaysia). Phew, that was a mouthful.

If you want to know how she does it, meet Ninie Ahmad in person this Thursday in Bangsar Village II, Starbucks Live & Inspire Series where our yoga instructor would talk about yoga over coffee and if you are lucky, she might just decided to flex her spine and strut some interesting yoga poses. It doesn't matter if you're into yoga or not, be inspired by the talk and come for the freebies! Maybank is offering free coffee for the first 30 who register on ground and BeYoga is giving away exclusive membership for free and basically you do not have to pay a single penny to be part of the talk as it is free of charge. Now that's a lot of  'free' in one sentence!

Mark your calendar now, or (sadly, in this technology dependent world) set a reminder on your phone or lappie because for someone who eat, breathes and pray yoga, Ninie Ahmad is one hot speaker that should not be missed!

I'm in denial

Cos it's three days to Christmas Eve and it is daunting.

Memang damn berat hati already to leave all of you :( I am so going to miss all of these, every single person that touched my heart!

Last Wednesday was my last Lapsap session at Palate Palatte. It was less of a crowd but anyhow, very fulfilling. I'm just going to let the pictures do the talking this time.

Definitely best finger trigger happy shot of the night! :)

I love all of you, in case you do not realize that. You, includes all who are reading this. Even those who do not know of the existence of this blog. I'm glad I made a mark in your life, nothin feels better than to know we were able to make memories together. I don't know how's my future like yet, but I sure hope I get to keep my friends as they are. Okay, sounds damn cheesy and crappy, I don't know how to express my feelings in words now, lol!

Take care loves!

Graffiti is art yo

This post is very much delayed, I know. Procrastination is my middle name. Most of you should know this by now! lol. So the other weekend I headed down to Capsquare for U.O.X Play. Upon reaching there they greeted me with this. Damn funny wey.

Rules you ought to follow!

They had a bunch of really cool people working on a big canvas all around the event. Live graffiti art ya'll! I was sitting right across the canvas watching the canvas transform into a random piece of art. Damn enlightening. And I bet that poor guy thinks i was downright creepy. Heh.

Taken at 4 pm

Taken at 6 pm

I got to say I have newfound respect for people who have the ability to draw or create something so random yet it looks fantastic! There are a few more graffiti arts on display but i only snapped those I really liked.

I left Capsquare around 8pm to meet up with Superman. Sometimes it feels so good to be able go to artsy fartsy events alone. Only then you'll be able to take your time on everything. Like how i went to the same stall 4 times, looked at the same pair of shoes selling at RM8 (heels at RM8! can you imagine that?), tried them on twice and thought to myself "Shit i wish i'm a Size 8" thrice. I kid you not.

Final product at the end of the day

Favourite out of the bunch

Feeling envious? Tu lah, next time I ajak, don't give me excuses like 'it's going to rain soon'. -_-

Come out and play

What you'll get when you mix one group of talented musicians and one massive flea market with fabulous clothes and vintage?

One BIG crazy, artsy fartsy party filled with shopaholics!

From the brilliant people who brought you the famed Urbanscapes!, here comes U.O.X Play : Block Party!

not their official poster but oh well :)

I just found out U.O.X stands for University of X. (non related to X-Men there, sorry X-Men fanatics lol) But I think it's a pretty cool idea to gather people around to party!

Basically what U.O.X Play : Block Party has in store for you is a series of mind-blowing events starting from November and it's happening all the way till January. But what's coming up is the event on this weekend at Cap Square, KL!

Map to Cap Square for clueless people only

I'm going just because Koko Kaina is going to perform! Nooooo, please don't tell me you've never heard of Koko Kaina! She is one petite singer with a voice that will melt your heart. Seriously. I've seen her perform once and the crowd was wild! She's our own Youtube singer that made it big in LA. Check out one of my fav songs by Koko Kaina, Darling it ain't easy.

For others that have zero interest in music and homegrown acts (ada lagi ker orang cam tu? do tell!), there would be a showcase of live graffiti arts and Marketplace by Tongue in Chic & Threadszoo. Also, if you have any old clothes that's been in your closet for ages, never been worn, sometimes you assure yourself someday you get to wear them with other pieces but the day just never came, pieces that are too precious just to throw them away(girls mentality, yes i have the same syndrome) hence the exploding wardrobe. Here's a chance for a spring clean for your closet : Donate them to U.O.X Play and at the same time buy pre-loved items from Rm5!

Remember to bring enough cash shopaholics!

Date: 15th November, Saturday
Time: 1pm onwards
Venue: UOX Play at Cap Square

RSPV at their FB Group. More info at KLue and TiC. See you there peeps! :)

FEMALE goodies

It was one hell of a weekend filled with drama-traumas, day activities, night outs, etc etc. And yet in the midst of chaos, somehow I managed to slip away in order to spend some time alone. Saturday morning, i woke up early and jumped into a cab and headed straight to 1Utama for the Female Magazine event. Alone. Yes, i'm a little nuts just like that.

Upon reaching there, the crowd was insane! Everyone was in a bee line to go somewhere at some point. So much for my 'me-time' :( But that's where the fun starts!

I got on stage yo

I got my goodies bag (in fact I got two!) and talked to some random strangers (while I was waiting in line. To do what, I don't know. I just lined up just like everyone else lol) and this was the exact conversation that took place.

Lady : So did you managed to get the door gift?
R : What door gift? Oh the Triumph Sports Bra? No, I must have missed that
even when I came really early!

Lady : Oh if you really wanted the Sports Bra you have to be here at least at 9:30
R : Uh what? I thought the event starts at 11:00?
Lady : Yeah, but there's a strategy for that!
Her husband : She's been to so many, she's a pro already.
R : -_-

See those pink bottles? Apparently they are collagen drinks.
Can anyone tell me whether would I die from consuming them?

Random stuff they gave, from mouthwash to shoe spray.
Tiger balm in a packet! How cute is that?

FEMALE knows what a woman wants

Everyone's such a champion there. So i stayed a little while longer sitting by the stage, just to join in the hype. They were having lucky draw session and out of nowhere, my name was called! Shiats! Why did I go alone? *smacks head* So i went up the stage and got this..

My sweet ass thanked you enough :)

Best in the bag. There's 12 packets of rubber duckies in there.
And i got two boxes of these!
Don't envy.

So back home i found all these little trinkets in the Female Goodies Bag. *Big grin* Quoted from Pei Yee, 'I love goodies bag because you know you'll never have the same luck in lucky draw!'. Well babe, i got both! lol! Okay this post is getting boring so tata now!
